iPhone vs AT&T 8525 / HTC TyTN « theONbutton
Empty? Well yes. It’s dulcet farcical to agree to any pointed resemblance to equivalent devices when there aren’t any. Can you name another 500 buck cellphone which doesn’t have 3G or even stereo bluetooth? Me neither. Can you name another 500 buck cellphone which seamlessly plugs into iTunes, says ‘I’m uber-purposive’ rather than ‘I’m a workaholic’ and has captured media notice more successfully than a military coup? Me neither.
So, why plenty the iPhone against the HTC TyTN (AT&T/Cingular 8525)?
Well, if TyTN is the crowned head of Smartphone Passage then iPhone is the fashionable kid who’s upright moved in, and it reckons it can set off a few car alarms as it swaggers down the method.
That avenue happened to be Fifth Avenue New York, where people queued rich a sun-glasses cube no more than down the technique from a TyTN advert on a underpass admittance. Dreamboat comes in many forms on 5th, but on June 29 it came as a slice of Apple. And what a attraction it was. You pick the id up and over “woah, this is a valid jape pill”. I proletarian like what a Trek-era troche should truly be.Although people outside, nothing more. Some of you will find it is innocuous in the forms....

A: i have the same phone. this uncontrollable happens if you try to download directly onto your phone. Instead you need to download the reference onto you computer and use the USB connector wire to install the application from you desktop/laptop to your cubicle phone.
In the process of installing it the PC converts the file into something the phone understands.
So dl onto your desktop. downright file. that should open the PC/Cell synch software. follow what it tells you to do and you should be productive.
Good luck.

ATT 8525 wifi connection without a data plan?September 15, 2007 at 09:26 PM by Capricorn | Posted in PDAs & Handhelds
Q: I have upgraded my old phone through ATT and got an ATT 8525 (HTC 8525). It works elegant, everything is OK, etc., etc.
I have a voice plan and do not have a data plan. I do not want the data system either, because it costs too much.
But I want to be able to use the wifi now and then. I sent a couple of photos from my PDA and it works.
I went to a wifi locality with my laptop (to make sure that the wifi was working), I turned on wifi on my PDA, took some photos and sent them successfully.
But the phone automatically uses the 3G military talents even when it is connected to wifi, and even though I do not have a data plan. On top of it, they charge you 10 times the price of a plan, because "you have adapted to data services when you were not enrolled in a plan".
How do I change settings so that I use the wifi in lieu of of ATT's data service?

A: I remember EXACTLY what you are trying to do. Unfortunately I haven't figured it out either. From what I've read you be in want of to disable one of the connections so that it defaults to wi-fi. I've tried downloading some programs that are imagined to do that but I have been unsuccessful. I'll keep trying and let you know when I get it, in the mean while here's something that might help http://forums.wireless.att.com/cng/lodge /message?board.id=cingular&thread.id =52119
