On May 8, Sprint rolled out the Samsung Nexus S 4G , which is ounce for ounce, inch for inch, and specification for specification, the same device Google launched on T-Mobile’s network last December. Both run Google's latest Android 2.3 "Gingerbread" build, with support for NFC (near-field communication) technology, which enables mobile payments and other sensor-swiping capabilities; a gyroscope for improved gaming; and multitasking and a refreshed user interface with a better keyboard. However, while the Nexus S is equipped with a 3G radio, the Nexus S 4G has a 4G radio and the benefit of running on Sprint's WiMAX network. This means it shows some appreciable speed improvements over its predecessor, which is powered by T-Mobile's network. Moreover, the Nexus S 4G has another perk its older brother lacks: native support for Google Voice. Nexus S 4G users may use current Sprint wireless phone numbers as their Google Voice numbers without having to port their numbers.
