100 positions at LG Chem battery plant draws more than 800 job seeks
Apr 26, 2011HOLLAND — More than 800 job hunters turned out Tuesday to put in applications for production positions at the new LG Chem lithium ion battery plant .
The 100 production jobs at the $300 million plant will start in the fall, said LG Chem Human Resources Manager Jeremy Hagemeyer.
“We’ll be hiring another 100 technical operators for the fourth quarter when the plant gets into full production,” said Hagemeyer, who was overseeing the applicant sign up at Ridge Point Church on Tuesday.
Pay ranges for plant workers who will assemble the lithium ion batteries for the GM Volt and an electric version of the Ford Focus will range from $11.50 to $14 an hour, plus benefits. “West Michigan has a strong talent pool with people who believe in doing quality work, which are the type of people we want to hire,” Hagemeyer said.
