Android 3.1 Honeycomb software update headed for Motorola Xoom
May 12, 2011Of all the tidbits to emerge from Google’s I/O, this next one is bound to bring some sunshine to tablet fans, especially those who own the one from Motorola. Xoom users on the Verizon Wireless network can expect to receive an OTA Android 3.1 or Honeycomb software update this week.
Bringing joy to entertainment buffs, this update supports the fresh new Android Market movie rental service. And the HDMI connectivity means users can watch these titles on a larger screen, if not on the slate’s 10.1” high-resolution display. There’s full support for the final release version of Adobe Flash Player 10.2 with this upgrade.
Better customization of the homescreen is offered with resizable widgets and transferring image files to a PC without employing drivers gets easier with Picture Transfer Protocol Feature support. The Android 3.1 update even holds up with USB-connected peripherals and extended Bluetooth capabilities includes the ability to use Bluetooth headsets in Google Talk video chats.
